Nature Valley Redesign •
Introduction
The following work aims to reimagine Nature Valley’s packaging from their current minimalist style into a fun, vintage-inspired piece that calls back to America’s National Parks.
Skill: Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Dimension
Timeline: January 2025 -February 2025
Research
The beginning stages of my research involved coming up with a concept that stayed loyal to Nature Valley’s original message and current values. Looking further into Nature Valley’s partnership with the National Parks Conservation Association, many of their proceedes go to increasing access of national park trails throughout the country. This guided me into the history of National Park funding.
The main inspiration in the redesign are the WPA Posters from the 1930’s. These Great Depression era posters were made by paid artist by the Works Progress Administration that aimed to promote American public land. I aimed to reintroduce this specific style of vintage illustration that layers bright and bold colors over each other to create solid shapes without the over-use of blending.
Sketches
The following four sketches focuses on two flavors. Each of the two. were designed based on National Parks that visually matched the descriptions of their flavors. Oats & Honey was sketched with visual aspects of Yellowstone National Park, while Sweet & Salty was sketched with Sequoia National Park attributes.
